Because this is the victim reminding the narcissist that they no longer mean anything to them. If actions speak louder than words then this is the narc having to face the kind of reality they despise. That of their insignificance to a particular person who was once a dominant feature of their life.
The games up and the narcissist knows this. They’ve finally been found out and no matter the trick they attempt to conjure up, their ex is having none of it. How can you attempt to re manipulate someone when they’ve not just slammed the door in your face but also thrown away the key.
Narcissists are primarily attention junkies and control freaks. No contact removes the capacity to re initiate either. Even negative attention is worthy of their time much as they’ll claim otherwise and its now the ex that’s in complete control much as the narcissist loved to remind them that they’d never last two minutes without them. Now who’s the one struggling to cope. Another valuable supply source lost and and one less shoulder to lean on.
