A fascinating read of epic battle sagas that take place in historical Ireland. The descriptions of the scenes are very detailed, natural, and other worldly. So vivid, you feel you are actually there with the character. The author is an archaeologist, this make the reading so much more realistic, sometimes making it hard to classify the book in the fantasy category. Central to the theme of the book is the hag of the bill chanting “come back to the Slighan Hill” which appears consistently throughout the book. It builds a mythical atmosphere and makes it an enchanting read. Various creatures make appearance in the book, making it a very entertaining.
