【熟能生巧】 有一位射箭的人，來到鎮上展示他的才華。他是個很不可思議的神射手，一箭接一箭，都正中靶心。這時，群眾中後面站了一個人；這個人並沒有喝采，只說道： 「哦，這只是熟能生巧罷了！」 由於這位神射手自視甚高，他期望得到讚美，不喜歡這樣的評語；於是，他走向那個人，說： 「你是什麼意思？這只是熟能生巧嗎？難道你能夠射得像我這麼精準嗎？ 「沒辦法，不過讓我給你看個東西。」這個人說道。 因為這個人曾經賣過油，於是他拿出一個瓶口非常狹窄，下方有個長長的瓶頸，底下是個圓形肚子的瓶子；只見拿起一大桶的油，將油倒進那個小瓶口，剛剛好倒進瓶子裡，沒有溢出一滴油。然後，他看著神射手，說：「你能夠這麼做嗎？」 「我做不到，因為我從來沒有練習過那個技能。」神射手回答道。 「我沒辦法像你一樣射箭，但你也沒辦法像我這樣倒油，這只是熟能生巧罷了！」這個人說道。 附註：當我們羨慕他人所擁有的能力或技能時，誰也不知道他們在背後裡練習了多久，付出了多少心血和汗水，才能精練到如此熟練的地步。這種「熟能生巧」的事情，不單只是能力或技能的成就，更需要長期不斷地「練習」；思想和生活態度也是如此。如果我們每天的「思想」都很樂觀，長久下來，就會培養出欒觀正面的心態，並且珍惜每一天的生活；那麼，生命的每一天都能活得既充實又精彩。如果我們經年累月地「練習」欺詐瞞騙，我們就會「精通」詐騙的技倆；因此，在行詐騙時，自然眼不眨、氣不喘，一點也不會覺得羞愧！ 沒有人是天生的大師，所有大師上台的自信，都是在台下一點一滴「練習」出來的，常言道：「台上一分鍾，台下十年功」正是此意。 這個故事在告誡我們：無論我們「練習」什麼事，只要時間久了，一定會愈做愈熟練，最後必然到達「精通」的程度；佛教的修行更是如此。如果我們能確實做到「一門深入，長時熏修」的要訣，本著「不懷疑、不夾雜、不間斷」的心態，努力精進，則不論我們想要往生哪一個佛國淨土，必能如願以償！
